***Scam Warning***

“If you are receiving letters in the mail as the one posted in the picture, they are not affiliated with the Boerne Fire Department at all. We will not mail out or call residences requesting for donations to the fire department. Please share and get the word out!!!” -BFD Facebook page

Recently, people in the community have been receiving letters with the header “Boerne Area Volunteer Firefighter Drive” which asks for the recipient to either sign up as a volunteer or send in a donation.

This letter is not in any way affiliated with the Boerne Fire Department (BFD) or any other volunteer fire department in Kendall County. This letter is sent out by an organization called the Volunteer Firefighter Alliance (VFA) which is based out of Topeka, Kansas and has been sending out letters across the country.

It is important to note that BFD does not send out notices and doesn’t solicit for donations. Furthermore, VFA does not provide any support to local fire departments and in fact spends most of its money on its own administration, rather than firefighters or protecting others.

If you would like to make a donation to BFD outside of their annual fundraisers, you can directly mail it to BFD or bring it directly to the department.
