Geneology Society completes history of County Sheriffs

The Genealogy Society of Kendall County (GSKC) has completed a multi-year project researching and writing historical profiles of all the Sheriffs of Kendall County. The project was begun at the request of Sheriff Al Auxier and includes profiles of all the twenty-two men and one woman who have been sheriff of the county.

In 2017 GSKC formed the Sheriffs Project Team: Nancy McLarry, Chaille Lazar, Linda Stephens, Hal Harwell, Richard Tomlinson, Kathryn Adam Hurst, Carla Chargaris, Karla Abbott, Jim Westermeier and Carol Westermeier. The Team published the profiles of the first twelve sheriffs in the 2019 Spring/Summer issue of the GSKC Keys to the Past. With additional help from James Hurst, Janice Brazil, Deborah Hill and Bryden Moon, the current issue of Keys to the Past completes the project. Special thanks go to the past sheriffs and their families for their input and photographs and to Kendall County Clerk Darlene Herrin, Patrick Heath Librarian Robin Stauber and local historian John Eddie Vogt for their assistance.

The Sheriffs Project material is archived at the Family History Place, 114 E. Blanco, Boerne, Texas and GSKC continues to welcome more information and photographs.  Copies of Keys to the Past are available for purchase.
